We have an application that is developed with VFP and a couple of COM components of various natures. I choose to deploy it in virtualized form using Molebox. In order to simplify deployment on corporate PCs including on "secured workstations".

The software can now be installed per simple copy or just run from a plain USB stick. No requirement for admin rights for a basic usage. But I am still uncomfortable with UAC and other possible proprietary "watch dog" protection schemes or aggressive anti-virus software.

I am aware that writing to protected directories, including "program files", would trigger UAC or other "watch dogs" to bark. Ditto when writing to the registry, the software carefully avoid it as well.

What else may prevent the software to run properly? What has caught my eyes is the "shellexecute" command that has triggered an UAC prompt on some machines. On Vista alone (Not W7).

I'd be glad to hear about these issues before getting in front of a problem at runtime. The software is a critical support tool for a "training session" in corporate environments. We like to work without a glitch, ie without IT support intervention, in most corporate environments :)

Any tip, trick, pointer welcome since I am not really a windows system guru à la Charles Petzold!
