I am still working with Microsoft on this. They have confirmed the bug at multiple levels within their hierarchy using my sample code. As of yet though, no ETA on a bug fix. Currently they're waiting on yet another NetMon log from me. For now I've just rolled the SMB2 registry fix into my installer as a work around.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters
Add a new REG_DWORD key with the name of "Smb2" (without quotation mark)
Value name: Smb2
Value type: REG_DWORD
0 = disabled
1 = enabled
