The real answer is found in a statement that Robet Greene made two Devcons ago, "If you are waiting for an enhancement that has been requested for the ast three versions and it isn't threre yet, get a clue."

The report writer is not a high priority for the VFP team since the VS is supposed to get a shared report designer in the future. The same is true of the menu builder.

My point is not one of what should be, but rather was is. The report designer in VFP is built to format a printed page and it does that well, it does not do well for formating the display screen. We can get frustrated as all get out trying to get it to do a screen display well, or we can face the facts and use a form instead and go on about our work.
