I have tried using a regular mmButton and create the entity manually. But then I get a strange error where, upon the Save operation, the framework tries to insert all NULLs into the new record. Mind you, I did type stuff into the required fields and all validation *succeeded*. I forwarded you my latest response to another thread which addresses that issue in more detail.

The only thing I can get to work is if I use the HookPreNewEntity() override to temporarily resort the grid into descending order. Then the MM framework code to select the last record because legitimate and I can use the mmButtonNew built-in functionality perfectly. Of course, that opens a pandora's box of detecting when to move the grid back into ascending order. It doesn't help that the mmTabControl has some kind of lockout so that I can't use events like SelectedIndexChanged to restore the grid to ascending order.
