Unless there are specific laws that allow the military or government to bypass that law, they could be opening up a can of worms.

Even so, for most of my time, I didn't wear a uniform and they didn't tell me what to do, because they didn't really know what I did!

>When people have the stones to complain about the US policies, they need to be reminded..

It doesn't take stones to complain about U.S. policies. It was manifestly obvious to the entire world for the better part of this thankfully vanishing decade that we didn't give a rip about anyone but ourselves. "Does not play well with others," a preschool teacher might jot down before a meeting with the parents.

We finally get a President who is respectable, after decades without one, and the clamorous element of our population only becomes more entrenched. Nothing epitomes this more than the health care reform debate. Republicans are without exception against it. Their last gasp measure is to stick an anti-abortion stink bomb into a bill that has nothing to do with abortion. That is another topic for another day. Filibusters. Carefully crafted wording inserted into the bill, predominantly by Democrats, to bring the pork home to their districts without coming right out and saying so. The whole thing is disgusting. Even as someone who thinks reform is outrageously overdue, I am disgusted.

Here is an interesting column I read on the train yesterday. She is admittedly a liberal but I think her point is spot on. We can't just assume reform will happen soon if it doesn't happen now. This week is seismic. I don't like the whole bill, either, but it's a start.
