>I discovered that when you create a databse using SQL Server Express by right-clicking on the Soluton Explorer and adding a new item (in VS 2008), Visual Studio places that new database into the root of the project you are in. I had assumed that it would place the database and its log file into the \SQLServerExpress\Data folder by default, but not so. Does anyone have any further insight into this? Is this alterable?

The usual practice as far as I know is to add database in the App_Data folder for the project.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
