>>Are you getting this same crap weather? We got dumped on pretty good yesterday, me driving around doing errands for more than I could have used of it. It stopped overnight and has now resumed. Seems like a good day to stay in, cook a pot of chili, and watch football. Contributing to this plan is that the Bears are not playing today <g>.

>Cleveland is truly an earthly paradise <s> No snow on the ground right now and I survived going out for the paper at 6 am with no jacket. Daughter in Virginia still snowed in. We never got hit with the stuff dumped further east or west.

>Browns play the Raiders today ( heralding home-town return of our former QB Charlie Frye, infamously benched after 2 quarters as starter and traded to Seattle the next day - now starting for Oakland over Jamarcus Russell. He faces Derek Anderson - who replaced him after his benching and who now replaces Quinn who is out for the season)

>And hovering over it all is the spirit of Mike Holmgren - Frye's mentor at Seattle and the future King of the Browns.

>Unfortunately the game I want to see - Steelers/Ravens - won't be televised here. Should be a bloodbath.

I hope it's one of the games shown here. Good old December football.

We should all move to the shores of Lake Erie, where it never snows <g>.

More than a few here have been tracking the movements of Holmgren and Shanahan, it being a foregone conclusion that Lovie Smith has lost the faith of his players and has to go. That must boil the blue blood of George Halas's descendents, who believe it or not still own the team. Mike Ditka famously said that they throw nickels around like manhole covers, and Lovie has them on the hook for over $10 million. Be that as it may, there will be a new coaching staff in place at Halas Hall in about two weeks.
