>>The father of terrorism suspect Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab talked about his son's extremist views with someone from the CIA and a report was prepared, but the report was not circulated outside the agency, a reliable source told CNN's Jeanne Meserve on Tuesday.
>>
>>Had that information been shared, the 23-year-old Nigerian who is alleged to have bungled an attempt to blow up a jetliner as it was landing in Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day might have been denied passage on the Northwest Airlines flight, the source said.

>>
>>In the opinion of just about every investigator, historian, and committee who studied 9/11, inter-agency parochialism was one of the factors that prevented the attacks from being stopped. Everyone from President Bush on down said this can't happen again. Directives were issued telling the agencies in no uncertain terms not to let it happen again.
>>
>>It seems to have happened again anyway. Maybe you really can't teach an old dog new tricks. Even smart old dogs.

>We wouldn't want to discriminate now would we?

Discriminate? Huh? I guess you mean profiling young Arab men. Actually I am not very much against that. Let's face it, that's who most of the terrorists have been. What this article concerns is entirely different. There was reason to keep an eye on this specific individual and the CIA did not share that information with other agencies. If they had I assume he would have been added to the no-fly or watch-carefully lists, especially when he paid cash for a ticket and boarded a transatlantic flight with no luggage.
