Hi All,
I installed a new instance of SQL 2008 on my SBS server as SQL2008 instance name. There is another install of SQL2005 installed there for some other purpose. I also have SQL2008 developer edition installed on my desktop machine. I am unable to connect SSMS from my workstation to the instance of SQL2008 on my SBS server. I am logged in and running SSMS but can't connect with any of the following:
tcp:BTSMAIN\SQL2008
np:BTSMAIN\SQL2008
BTSMAIN\SQL2008
192.168.101.10\SQL2008
I have checked on the server under SQL Server 2008 Configuration Manager the protocols for named pipes and for tcp are enabled. I also see the checkbox for Allow Remote Connections was already checked. I also verified that SQL Browser is running on both my desktop machine and the server.
What else do I check for to be able to establish a connection to this new instance?
Thanks
Tim
