WATCOM 386 read error is a nasty error that has been around for some time. All I can say is this: I think it is a memory error and that if the user start FP2.X first the problems seems to be allieviated. Just a note though, I have started using a new computer and am developing in VFP6.0 using WIN95 with 128MB memory. If I work for the better part of the day and someone asks me to fix a FP2.X problem or do something in FP2.x I will more than likely get a WATCOM 386 error. This error is so severe on my new computer that it locks everything up and the only way to get past it is to shut the PC off. I know this is not good news, but so far it is the best I can do.
