Government does not make economic decisions, it makes political decisions.
Efficiency is not a consideration.
Unions, bureaucrats and lawyers make a better living every time government expands and they contribute zero production to society.

So, congratulations, your government must in some ways be better than ours.
Perhaps yours is not infested with unions, bureaucrats and lawyers?
