It's none of the above (or below as the case might be here). <s>

When I was doing my doctoral work in psychology (hmm... that was a few years ago), we had a multi-year research team, which all theses and dissertations had to go through before going to experimentation, etc. The other people on the team begged our advisor to be moved to another team because I kept shooting down their proposals, which of course is the scientific process at work. I am not easily impressed. And I couldn't find any holes in what they told me they were going to do.

I mention it here not to hype it (which without details wouldn't be possible) but rather in the context of reasons eTecnologia has to complete the job: they have a lot done and they have a doable plan that will make them well known.

>Apparently, you know what they have put together, right? You're not guessing or assuming? You know first hand?
>
>Well, if that is true, and you are "blown away", then I will say that it must indeed be a big deal. And, if it is as big as you are saying, then this news causes me to re-think my position on the project...
>
>At first when I BOUGHT my license for this product back in the summer, I mostly did it to show my support for it. What did I pay? Maybe $200, I don't even remember. No big deal, I just wanted to see the beta. I got very active in sending in bug reports, and I was very interested in it. Not that I will EVER use it, but I think what they were attempting was very cool, and I admired them very much, so I bought a license and put in some usage time.
>
>Then they got really quite starting about October / November. And that poor web site (Oh, my!), and the lack of marketing or news. I finally just figured it was another dead project, just like Craig Boyds VFP Studio, and many other "We Love VFP" projects.
>
>Now, I know that Craig Boyd has been really quite in the VFP world lately. And I had already thought myself that it would be cool if HE was involved in this project that it would lend something to it.
>
>Hey, maybe that's the deal??? A Craig Boyd partnership? Or, A Ken Levy Partnership? Come, on Hank, tell us what you know.
>
>Now I love Craig, and Ken, and many other of out VFP heavy hitters, but I will say that each one is just that... "One". I don't think that an affiliation with any one existing VFP personaility is all that big. You are leading me to think really big, like it some partnership with an existing corporate entity, and one that is large enough to make something really significant happen. EPS? DevExpress? Or (no way) Microsoft?

>>>What kind of "dynamite" marketing plan do they have? I hope it's more explosive than the "dynamite" marketing they have used so far.

>>>>I've actually heard from the lead developer in mid-December, but his prediction of a release the next week did not come true. I'm not sure what the hangup is: the major pieces to be implemented are down to the grid and rushmore (the latter being the key to making SQL Select work effectively against DBF's, including their new 64-bit dbf's). The other functionality is pretty much all there, including cursoradapters (at least the class is there, and supposedly they work for some scenarios). It would be a real shame if they were to fail this close to the finish line. That's the main point that gives me hope: they are this close. In addition, they have a dynamite marketing plan that will ensure they become known to all sorts of non-VFP developers, and it's something they have a capacity right now to carry out, without additional resources.
