>>>Curious about standard allotted portions. Is it 2,000 gallons, 3,000 gallons a month - or more or less than that? Is it allotted per household or according to the number of people in the household?

>That's expensive water. I think that equates to 1849 gallons. I pay on average 25.00/mth for approximately 2,000 gallons. When I had 4 people living in the same house (and cooking many meals and all 4 taking daily showers and doing laundry and watering the yard), I got close to 3,000 gallons one month.

Yes it is expensive. Our city has had, and still has, a weak City Council. They are addicted to money and feel it is their duty to take our money and construct the town instead of letting it evolve at it's own rate. Their latest multi-million dollar project is a 'city gateway'. They dare not raise the taxes anymore, so they have put red light cameras on the intersection lights, hired photo radar, hired 'peace officers' who are really by-law enforcement officers to issue expensive tickets for infractions. There is so much control that drivers are constantly watching out for the radar or the peace officers and their radar guns instead of keeping an eye on the road. I've started driving under the speed limit just to be sure I won't have to pay one of their high fines. I'm sure they argue that what they have done is a good thing, but I think thay have over applied the use of their power. All we need is the RCMP to enforce the law. Over and above that, council taxes the small utility installations for gas and power distribution for the land on which the huts are built. That tax is passed on to us by the power and gas companies. And, oh yeah, I used to pay $55.00 for two months water. Oddly, if you ask them what their politics are, they tell you they are Conservative, but their actions tell another story. As for me, I'm fixing up my house for sale so I can move to a nice place on a lake in BC where the fish are plentyful and the people are happy.
