How about it is a sign of the complete lack of moral values a lot of younger people have now that they live out of day care with replaceable or non-existant parents, no religion, no respect for law, no respect for school - the result of half a century of dismantling of the American family by those who try to see how 'liberal' they can be.

Aren't our gun ownership and gun fatality rates still through the roof compared to those in other developed nations? Just because violent crime is down compared to X years ago doesn't mean there is no more room for improvement.
Please understand this is not intended as a general argument for gun control. I realize there are lots of law-abiding Americans who love their guns. It just seems like an odd rationale for writing off gun control.
