The EF dismay? Please elaborate.

It's a common emotion from people who have investigated using the EF to write real life data applications. ;-) It's not universal, but when somebody claims that the EF is just hunky dory, a good first question would be "what sort of MVP are you" followed up with "when will your book be published?" ;-) It's just the way of IT- check out the people promoting Vista right here in UT long after much of the market had decided it wasn't a real-life proposition.

For the record I'm not anti-EF, I just don't think it is a productive way to work with classical databases. At this point somebody usually pops up to say that it can query XML and all sorts of other amazing swiss-army-knife stuff, but I'm too weary to get into all that when we all know that in the real world data is almost always in a SQL database- and also that the database may not be SQL Server 2008 R2.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
