Those "Gun Facts" people are being a bit naughty. ;-) Swiss figures for "Intentional firearm deaths" include quite a high firearm suicide rate- not because firearms cause suicides but because there's an available firearm in practically every home. If you look at "murder" figures, which is the more useful stat, it's a different story: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_wit_fir_percap-crime-murders-firearms-per-capita . Switzerland has three times the rate of New Zealand which also has fairly liberal gun laws, but less than a quarter of the US rate.
