>>A trial starts today, in Iran, against seven members of the Bahá'í Faith. Although there are several official excuses, their real crime is to have a different religious belief from that of the government.

We are specifically instructed NOT to do anything against the government wherever we are (even in Iran...), to obey the government, and not to get involved in party politics. This obedience, however, does cover the one thing they want from us: renounce from our faith.

> And in Iran any member of a religion that is not Islam must pay a tax that is supposedly used to promote the Muslim faith in Iran.

I don't know about that. About the Bahá'ís, specifically, I did hear that they can't study in universities (people must state their religion, Bahá'ís will not give false information on that account), that Bahá'í cementeries have been desecrated, among other problems. And that at least 200 Bahá'ís have been executed since the Islamic Revolution, for different excuses. A common claim is that we spy for Israel. This is completely fabricated, the only truth is that the Bahá'í World Center (i.e., the central administration) is in Haifa, Israel.

> I wonder how loud they would yell if we applied their rules to their people over here?

Yeah, makes you wonder.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
