I fixed the program!!!:D...a little later than i hopped but it runs smoothly...the searching part i dont understand but this is what i used

LOCATE FOR greater,fname == newclient &&newclient being a variable
	IF FOUND()
		THISFORM.UpdateResultsWindow(fname+' already exists ')
	ELSE
		THISFORM.contine
                          THISFORM.UpdateResultsWindow(fname+' added')
	ENDIF
