>I don't mean to be rude. But if I read this correctly it's taken 10 man years (2 yrs x 5 developers) to complete a conversion. If this is true - that is terrible. How long did it take you to develop the app with VFP in the first place?

We started the project with 2 persons we just added 3, five months ago. I can't give the exact length of time we developed the VFP version because it's a progressive development. I mean it's not off-the-shelf but more of a vertical-market application. One executable for all 100 plus hospitals.

Teaching our selfs python was very easy because it following the VFP thinking (other than syntax). The hard part was learning wxPython. BTW our project is now over 400 tables using Postgres.

We restructured everything so basically we started from scratch. The learning curve is 6 months because the .NET discipline is totally different from VFP discipline. Besides, there is no single programmer under me who have the VFP background. Most of them knew Java and VB. Also, we are not releasing the product until it is fully tested. We have separate testers so to speak because we do not want to repeat the mistake of releasing a product half-baked.

I salute you for finishing such a big project in that short period of time. But we can't do that here. We've been in this industry for 16 years and I could say it's more complex than you think it is. We need our system to talk to the lab / xray machines, complete financial accounting to counter SAP in our industry, HR, Health Insurance processing and transmittals, Clinic for the Doctor's.
