Not sure why you are seeing this. AFAIK when I open a solution the Solution Explorer shows everything as it was when last closed.
You may want to make sure that 'Track Active Item in Solution Explorer' in Tools/Options/Project and Solutions is not checked - this will stop Solution Explorer expanding to show the relevant item when you switch pages, use 'Go to Definition' etc....
