Nope, unless I'm missing something, those functions all seem to work with SET MEMOWIDTH, which is related to the number of characters allowed before wrapping. Editboxes don't respect that. I need to be able to handle proportional fonts too, so the GDI functions are probably the only option. Now if there were a function similar to ALINES() in the GDI, I'd be in business. :)
