My article in FAQ (under Win32 and other APIs) discusses this. As Michel mentioned, there is the WM_CLOSE message, but apps can also be closed with WM_DESTROY. The selection of which to use depends on how you wish the app closed,. This is discussed in detail in the article (as well has how to find the title text based on the known portion of the title bar).
