>Is this in lieu of responding to my message? Pretty lame for a guy who thinks of himself as stand-up. You strongly implied VFP 3 was a joke at the time, and I'm telling you that wasn't so.

>Mike, I just read back through a few messages, and now I realize why you're a bit touchy on the subject of VFP 3 - you mentioned you did some presentations at DevDays. It's only natural that you'd feel a personal affinity and even loyalty for the product.

>But the truth is that VFP 3 was not solid in the way that, say, Delphi 2.0 was solid. In 1996 I seriously wanted to chuck Fox in favor of Delphi because I was quite unhappy with VFP 3. I personally know many developers who were also looking at other tools in the late 1995-early 1996 period. But the release of VFP 5 later that year wound up bringing relief to many people.

I honestly don't feel touchy about it at all. VFP3 was a groundbreaking product and I will stick by that statement forever. Yes, it had bugs. Which came out later.

Delphi was a GREAT product. The best place I have worked for had recently shifted from FoxPro to Delphi. I knew the owner from FP user group meetings. The day I came in for an interview he happened to be passing through the lobby and came over to shake my hand. I saw you on the schedule, he said. Just don't expect to be using that FoxPro crap around here, LOL.
