The same thing that would happen to any DBA who turns off something that is needed?

It was a socratic question - the DBA holds the trump card, and there are plenty of DBAs who still, even in 2010, want all data access via stored procs.

We had this same argument with JVP. If there are specific reasons to use SP, such as customer policies, then you do it. That is *not* an argument that SP are superior.

Why do you think DBAs turn off SELECT access in the first place?
