>By contrast, I thought the first major conference after the release of 5.0 (which, I believe, was also in Arizona the following October, when we all froze our butts off) was a much better conference and more hands-on. Sure, part of that could be attributed to the fact that OO had been out for a little while with Fox, but I think having a MUCH better 5.0 tool made the difference. Speakers were, for lack of a better phrase, "at one" with the product during their presentations.

>(And by the way, I'm not saying that VFP 3 "sucked". Many "first versions" are going to suffer cracks.)

I think the biggest issue with the first conference was that VFP was barand new to the speakers as well and a lot of us were not really sure which way we would eventually go with certain things. Besides VFP 3 was a bit of a dog. It was beautiful as a version 1 of a brand new technology but it wasn't really ready for the real world of project development.
