If you display seconds the changing of the seconds will not be very smooth when using a timer. In this case I used a flash object instead, which is very easy to create and you can drop a flash object on the form. You only need to make sure the flash OCX is installed on the client computer. The one I used last was http://gammaserver.no-ip.biz/time.swf (it resizes automatically).
