Maybe a terminology difference? :-)
A successful VFP data brokering middle-tier might expose a method called ..ohhh.....MemberStateCount to show the number of members in a given state. So, you could called it from VB with MemberStateCount("FL") and get back the number for Florida PDQ as VFP would execute the SQL statement to derive the value and send it back.
