I'd heard it's a bit chilly over in your parts...

the more things change,....

Yes, things do change. You watch what people start saying about typed datasets now. But who cares? You're fine, fwiw: you said typed datasets were the best option in NET and they were. If somebody wants to have a go, ask them what they think should have been used in NET between 2005 and 2010. People who picked typed datasets and stuck with them may be far better off than those who went to L2S then to L2E and now face another move to POCO. Which is a consistent point: there are people out there who think they are brave pioneers when all they do is follow vendor instructions to choose a different flavor in the same old comfort zone. Those sorts of people often have no comprehension of the business cost of constant change. Sometimes you do need to sit tight and I'll defend you in that until the bitter end. Obviously. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
