It's definitely practical to do this over a 64k line. It really depends on the application. As long as you aren't bringing down too much data you should be fine. It also depends on how people are using it. Will all 5 users be running queries at once? That might overload your connection. Typically, though, most of a user's time is spent viewing or editing data that's already local.
