I think it can be transparent, depending on how you connect to the SQL data in your C# app.
If you connect directly to the .MDF, it's my undertanding that the user doesn't need SQL Server installed at all and bringing the .MDF home becomes fairly simple.




to take the data home, so SQL will not be an easy option.

We're talking about someone who has never even HEARD of Sql. For us it;s a no brainer. To some people, an install wizard would panic them.

He's already got to install my app. The database should be transparent.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
