OK, now I understand what you want. The answer is no, you MUST install IE4 in order to use the IE4 web browser control (same with IE3). If course you don't have to make IE4 your default browser after install, and you can remove the 40K file called iexplore.exe which is the IE shell around the browser control.

Also, to modify my response of my last message to you, there is another way to use the webbrowser subclass of IE3 or IE4 without downloading my WebExplorerX components. The is a \vfp\gallery\_webview.vcx class library that is included with VFP6 which contains the same components as the WebExplorerX webbrw.vcx class library. The Component Gallery uses this classlib for hosting a web page in the dynamic folder view mode (by setting a folder filename to a URL or file).

>Ken, my issue is not so much that I need to decide which control to use, but rather I want to 'force' IE4 and I'm wondering if there's any way I can get the IE 4 control to work on a machine without fully installing IE 4. You know, similar to the way you can bring along other activex controls with a VFP install.
