If I didn't go through all the hassle and paperwork to change it to Kramek, why on earth would I want to do that?

Because public service is, well, public "service" so you should be prepared to make minor personal sacrifices for the good of all if you wish to seek it.

Yeah, please do ignore that. :-)

However, there was a serious if somewhat obscure point in my selection of Benedict Arnold, who was an immensely successful military leader in the revolution. He was also a somewhat fiery character who did not tolerate fools gladly and ended up joining up with Sir Clinton(!) for the British after he fell out with various people including most of Congress. ;-) While some regard him as a traitor, others consider this a story about the recurring examples of competent people being a bit fiery, meaning they often fall out with superiors or others who may be a little sensitive, said competents often reacting to the resulting black-balling by going to the opposition rather than trying to negotiate... and often ending up being remembered for all the wrong reasons. Not saying anything in particular, it's just a little history point that appealed to me.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
