I really don't understand what's going on in Washington these days. For all of last year when unemployment was rising and there was genuine concern that the economy was at a precipice these clowns had nothing better to do than push cap-and-trade and healthcare reform.

We all are going to have different ideas on what constitutes good healthcare policy or environmental policy, right? But why was that the focus of national policy when 10% of us were swinging from the employment tree?

Rome burns while Nero fiddles. And more unbelievable is how the Democrats can't understand why they run the risk of being tossed out en masse. Republicans are being portrayed as the party of "no" lately and rightfully so. My sense is that the electorate doesn't want to talk about this crap right now until the country is righted so maybe being a solid "no" is a good thing.

It seems that the Democratic leadership is heading for an epic fail of Biblical proportion that will make 1994 look like a mild disagreement and are too mired in their beliefs to see it coming.

There seems to be a change in the way Americans perceive government and politics. People just don't seem to be as accepting of the dogmatic propaganda BS as in times past and that spells trouble for the progressives who are nothing if not uber-dogmatic. I think a lot of "Mr. Deeds" type folks are going to be elected in 2010 and 2012 from both parties.

>As bad as Bush was, it has only taken Obama a single year to make me almost long for Bush...

>First, Obama's budget is attempting to seize any money returned by banks (recouped from the TARP bailouot) to fund a 2nd "stimulus". This is ILLEGAL. The TARP legislation specifically stated that monies recouped from TARP would be used to pay down the national debt.

>Fortunately, Obama is getting slammed for this by the man who refused to work in Obama's cabinet:

>Second, the US Credit Rating is at risk

>The threat is NOT ONLY a higher cost of borrowing money for the federal government - it's also the loss of value of financial assets.
>If Obama's projected growth is wrong, it would wind up damaging the U.S' AAA credit rating - which could possibly spin this country into a something worse than 1929.

>Fortunately, there appears to be serious opposition in the House to Obama's budget.

>And for that matter, even Obama's own party has signed on to a bill that would block the EPA from regulating carbon dioxide. Here's a quote from Rep. Peterson (D) of Minnesota: "I have no confidence that the EPA can regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act without doing serious damage to our economy....Congress should be making these types of decisions, not unelected bureaucrats at the EPA.”

>So that buys a bit of time for the Climategate fiasco to discredit the idea of man-made global warming. That could help kill cap-and-trade for good.
