Why do you hate to tell me this? Because I might be skeptical about the amount of influence you have over publishing houses? ;-)

As far as what either form "should" cost, I suspect you are looking at it from an entirely different perspective than they are. You are making a value judgment. I'm sure they are much more guided by marketing and profitability considerations.

My influence was small, very small - but it was a voice they considered.

They were already looking at it from a profit perspective...and in some cases, weren't aware of all the instances of piracy I provided them. But they WERE looking for a few value judgments that I provided.
