Hi JimB,

Yes, I did want to summarize JimN's views. I knew yours were different, but then I hardly include you in the "rest of us".

If I do understand you correctly you're saying that following your work, VFP does have a unique contribution because of its combining an efficient object model with a robust data engine.

The question that comes up here is the following: Are you not afraid that the day that this will be relevant at all again "for the rest of us", these aspects will have been taken care of at the OODBMS level. Because face it, what you describe is more or less what Object Oriented Databases promise to deliver, admittedly since a long time :).

And about you classifying "one tool does it all" as dinausorish and depasse concept, that saddens me. Don't you think that if one tool can does do it all, it should? I understand that conceptually the idea of using different tools at their optimum usage is tempting, but at the implementation level most of the nightmares stem from there don't you think?

Let me again thank you for your patience and wish you the best,

Marc
