We're using the .NET components running on IIS to automatically feed orders and invoices into a SQL accounting system but I did use the free version initially in order to get something up and running quickly.
IIRC, this is a standalone application incorporating it's own web handling so you don't need a separate web server. Outgoing files just have to be dropped in the designated folder and, in the same vein, you will need some mechanism to check for incoming files in another folder. Given the above then it should be simple enough to use this with VFP.
