I agree with Sergey. Opt in, not opt out. It was really annoying to log in this morning and have the first message I saw be about Facebook, especially since it didn't match the subject of the first message I could see in the top pane.

I'll point out that both Google and Facebook have gotten in trouble for making opt out the default for things.
