I had a memory problem like that on my PC since the last two nights but it was related to the fact that I just processed over 6000 images and I had to wait a few hours before it came back to normal. I guess the best is such a circumstances is a clean reboot. You may want to check for viruses or spyware just in case this wouldn't be a factor. I have seen such a latency sometimes caused by those situations.
