At the end of the day I want VFP to connect to SQL Server 2005, to retreive a dataset, I want to then modify the data with VFP (tied to data fields on a form), then I'd like SQL Server 2005 to handle everything else. The only other thing I need to do is to be able to record lock SQL Server 2005 record(s) within VFP to allow me to perform validation and back-process updates.

I want the code to be as simple and as transparent as it can be, and ultimately I'll move the SQL commands themselves through to SQL Server 2005 at some point.

So, ODBC with SQL-pass-through?
