>For me, spending 100+ hours + $$ on books just trying to get an Ubuntu server to handle print and filesharing (and failing) was ludicrous. My time is valuable. A few clicks on a Windows server and this is done.

I never got samba to work properly with my Win2003 domain. I went through so many blogs/forums/FAQs/etc it was just dizzying, and naturally none agreed with any other.
I did get print sharing to work after a lot of digging, swearing, and physical threats to the server hardware. CUPS seems to work.
