Craig's advice is a good one. I also had that situation a while ago and no one would want an automatic reboot. Imagine, you have a process which is running in the middle of the night. Next time you know, in the morning, Windows decided to interrupt all that with a reboot. Or, as you mentioned, you could have several applications opened and not all of them may have been saved.
