Hello Everyone,

Our VFP9 application is being tested using a 64bit Windows Vista client with a 64bit SQL Server 2008 installed on the same PC. Using a DSN-less connection we're unable to connect to the database.

When using the Connection Designer with the following string:

DRIVER={SQL Server};UID=PWA_LOGIN;PWD=xxx;DATABASE=Test64;SERVER=Test64\INSTANCE1;APP=Test64

we get the following error:

Connection failed:
SQL State: '01000'
SQL Server Error: 53
Microsoft ODBC SQL Server Driver [DBNETLIB] ConnectionOpen (Connect())

Connection failed:
SQLState: '08001'
SQL Serve Error: 17
Microsoft ODBC SQL Server Driver [DBNETLIB] SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

I'm also unable to connect to the 64bit environment using the same connection string from my 32bit Windows XP client. However when using a DSN, I'm able to connect.

Has anyone used a 64bit server OS with 64bit SQL Server 2008 or know of the issue I'm finding?

Cheers,

Andy
