Unfortunately there's not a massive amount in the registry for the DSNs. It looks like the easiest way to overcome the issue is to create a DSN programatically if the connection string fails and use that to connect to the database. It may just be an environmental issue with this particular PC, but even if it isn't, creating a DSN seems fairly straightforward.
