Thanks to both of you for responding. I was able to confirm that I have XP Pro and IIS is installed and running.

I also found a website that had a MUCH better description of how to create a virtual directory for IIS (the book I'm using as a training aid had some explanations, but I wasn't able to use them). I've now got the project running so that I can open IE and get to my starting page. I've still got problems (new threads coming) but I've gotten started.

(Your dialog about IP addresses went way above my head, but we've got some in-house people that can deal with it when needed)
