>>>Just to get the ball rolling, my most liked list consists of C#, Delphi, and assembler. Assembler was the first one I learned (other than a little Fortran in a college class) and there was something about its austerity I really liked. Not machine language but the next closest thing. Once you grok the principles of assembler, nothing is going to really surprise you. Delphi was an elegant language I really enjoyed working with during its moment in the sun, a combination of VB's ease of use and C's low level capabilities. C# is the language I love these days. If all goes well I will be using it the rest of my career.

That would be me.

Modula-2 is described here.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modula-2
I had Borland's compiler - it was really cool and really discontinued fast after it came out :(

I started my .NET adventure with C#, which really fit with my OOP knowledge from VFP.

I then was on an ASP.NET contract working with VB.net, and I realized very quickly how much faster I could get things done when the compiler didn't fight me tooth and nail the entire time. I write code to get things done, not to see how deeply I can encapsulate functionality ot how obtuse I can make my code in general.

I haven't looked back at C#.

I hope he stays in Canada. Hrummph.
