In fairness, I am a tech junkie and the only reason I am not lavishly overspending on all things mobile and cellular and 4g whatever is the nature of my working environment which is such that I leave the house only to go to the grocery store or library or gym or park or do stuff that specifically doesn't require GPS, Internet or video games.

If I were a road warrior these days i'd probably be loaded up some kind of satellite driven something that would let me watch TV shows in Tokyo while I sent twitters to my facebook to program my refrigerator to tell the stove to cook dinner. ( I am just pretty sure it wouldnt be made by Apple as I am still convinced buying Apple contributes to Scientology <bg> )

>>>My Windows phone (Motorola Q9H) has a GPS. Google maps works great.

>>My 6 year old LG flip phone ( which right now looks like a Motorola B&W TV with bunny ears ) will make and receive telephone calls. I think it does other stuff too but I'm not sure what all the buttons are for.

>I'd like to see a cell phone that makes a good, reliable, clear phone call. I'd jump on one if there was such a thing.

>Until then, I put up with having one. I like having my Outlook on the phone. I like the GPS and the mapping. It is nice to be able to test my windows mobile apps on it. Other than that, it's a nusance.

>When I need to make a reliable call, I have a habit of using my 2 meter radio and using a phone patch from a local repeater. Reliable. clear. No drops just because.

>I wish I could talk my wife into us getting a business band license so we can use radio for our business communications.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
