Remember that by moving from a VFP app to a SQL/.NET app. you will very likely achieve greater back-end performance and economies of scale.

Can you justify that? Assuming that SQL Server is a constant (IOW that we aren't actually comparing local tables to a decent C/S backend) compare use of Remote Views catering for empty (null) datetime fields, to a VFP system using SP that also allows for NULL datetime, to a NET solution using the same SP. Where is the greater backend performance and economy of scale?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
