Basically, this is because this site uses .WAV files for the notification sounds. The only FireFox plugin I know of that can play .WAV files is Apple QuickTime.
If Michel switched them to, say, .MP3 there would be fewer problems. The Windows Media Player plugin for FireFox can play .MP3s.
