I certainly wouldn't use an ATOM processor for development :o) However, I recently had to test the Panasonic U1 Toughbook (had to write code to interface with the mag swipe). It had an ATOM processor (don't remember which one specifically) and it ran a very large and memory intensive app that has multiple modules very well. I was very surprised. I wasn't even considering anything with an ATOM processor prior to that, but after testing that equipment, i would definitely consider an ATOM processor netbook with usb connections and the larger hard drive (some have over 100GB) for everything but development. I like the smaller size too (for everything but development). :o)

The other Panasonic Toughbook models are currently being tested as well and so far so good. :o)

Personally, I prefer the netbooks because I need a keyboard. :o) I like the touchscreens but I usually get frustrated with how slow it is actually type a lot (or actually quickly) and want the keyboard :o)
