Is the grid on the same page as the "field"? What code are you using to setfocus to the grid and in what method are you writing that code? What type of control are you using for the "field"? Are you sure the "field" is in the page and not just in the form ON top of the page?

The Activate is an event that fires whenever the page gets focus, so if you are setting focus to the grid form another page or anotheer object then the activate will always fire.
